Frequently Asked Questions

Ripened naturally prior to shipment.

Our Summeripe protocol has been developed over time in partnership with UC Davis and Dr. Carlos Crisosto. We use a special ripening room using carefully monitored and controlled temperature and humidity to achieve perfect pressure before cooling.

To simulate the natural environment and "finish" what Mother Nature started.

The fruit becomes soft (lower pressure) and would bruise during the harvest and packing process. By picking at peak pressure, we're able to finish the process naturally in our conditioning process.

No, the fruit is completely ripe when it leaves the Summeripe® shipping facility. You can expect Summeripe conditioned fruit to drop in pressure at room temperature, without a paper bag.

No! Nothing but temperature and humidity. No gasses or chemicals are used in the conditioning of our fruit.

No, it may have a high sugar level, but it can also have a high acid level, thus creating a less than desirable taste. The fruit will generally be very hard and will not ripen consistenly.

The stickers are required by all grocery stores. Since fruit comes in different sizes and varieties, the stickers aid the cashiers to distinguish between the difference. Additionally, the stickers help evaluate consumer trends.
